Amanda Brugel
(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on that part of the island of Montreal that is known as the West Island. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of different communities. For those who haven't heard of it often mistake it for a separate, west-facing island. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. But it's not the case. Brugel was raised on Courtice just outside Oshawa within Ontario. The first goal she had was to become a dancer. However, a growth increase caused her to surpass all of the dance partners she was able to have. In an interview with the Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels, I'm 6 feet, 1 inch." After I surpassed my male counterparts and gave up, I decided to give up. Dancers who have been in the past often switch into acting. In the case of Brugel it was the result of a recommendation by her drama teacher. One of her teachers suggested she try out for a school play. The teacher who suggested she go after a role in the school's annual production. When she was awarded the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she enrolled in York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Brugel's career spans over 20 years and she's appeared in 60 different productions that have screened on large screens and smaller ones. Her most notable role was that of Rita (pictured beneath) in the television show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was only seen on a few occasions in the first season of the show The Handmaid's Tale. The only Canadian member.
